Prayer List

Edgebrook Covenant Church - The Prayers of Intercession of Edgebrook Evangelical Covenant Church
The First Week of Pentecost Sunday, May 11 - Saturday, May 17, 2008

-  Prayer focus for the week of May 11-17, 2008: Give thanks to God for the ministry of our youth intern, Beth Larson, and youth volunteers Ben Wall, Ben Jasmer, and Sarah Cochran.  Pray for Beth and Ben Jasmer as they begin their ministries at Portage Lake Bible Camp (Beth) and Adventurous Christians (Ben Jasmer) and for Ben Wall as he seeks God’s guidance for the next chapter in his life.  Also pray for Sarah as she returns home to Ohio for her wedding to Brad Henry on August 15.

- Give thanks to God for mothers and other women of faith who have positively influenced your Christian walk and faith.

- Praise!  Sarah Cochran, our new youth intern, was awarded a Kern scholarship this week!  This scholarship pays her entire tuition and fees for her Masters of Divinity studies at North Park Theological Seminary!

- Pray for the relief efforts and sparing of lives in the nation of Myanmar, which was devastated recently by a typhoon.

- Pray that the good work the Holy Spirit began in the hearts and lives of those who attended the Abundant Life Center’s weekend retreat (which concludes May 11) will continue until it has had full effect for Christ’s kingdom and glory.  Pray that Carl and Karen Groot, our Covenant missionaries to Thailand who led the retreat, will also be renewed in body and spirit.

- Update on Dan Fuhr: Dan’s last Sunday before leaving for a tour of duty in Afghanistan will be Sunday, August 3.  Between now and then, Dan will mostly be away preparing his battalion for their upcoming deployment.  Pray for Dan, his wife Kris, and their children Alyssa and Benjamin.  Pray for courage, confidence, grace, peace and the assurance of God’s presence as they together face this challenge.

- Pray for the upcoming release of “Fireproof,” a Christian movie that promotes marital fidelity.  Kris Fuhr is the national marketing director for this film, which is produced by the same church that made “Facing the Giants.”

- Continue to support through prayer Steve and Rebecca Hoden as they are now applying to become short term missionaries with the Evangelical Covenant Church.

- Offer prayers for protection in travel for Candi Tepke and six other women who are part of a team from Women Ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church.  They left on Saturday for Japan and will be visiting Covenant churches and the seminary there.  Pray for their host missionary and Japanese families as well.

- Health concerns:  Continue to pray for Bunny Hughes’ oldest brother, Rick Husted, who has inoperable brain cancer – he has been told he has 6-8 months of life left here.  As you pray for him, give thanks for his strong faith in Christ.  Also pray for: Bunny Hughes’ mother, Isabel Husted, who is in the last days of life here – Isabel suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and lives in a care facility in Naperville; Julia Bakken – recovery from volleyball-related foot injuries; Roberta Walsh (lifelong friend of Nancy Senatore) – recent surgery and ongoing radiation treatments for lung cancer; Neilsa Warren (Pastor Greg’s older sister) – remaining in the hospital and will complete her cancer radiation treatments there; Gracie James (two year old daughter of Trevor and Christy James) – Gracie is still struggling with a lack of appetite and poor eating.  Pray that the feeding and nutrition clinic that is seeing her will be able to find some answers (this clinic is part of the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital); friends of Jill Lind, the Herman family – their six year old daughter Rachel has had a recurrence of leukemia; Mary Ellen Serritella (recently moved from her home to Harmony Nursing Care to recover from some health issues).
